World Travelers

As a final activity to wrap up our unit on expository writing "Just the Facts", the class has traveled to 5 different parts of the world as scientists.  Each day, we boarded a plane with our passports and took off! We visited the polar region in Antarctica, the dessert area of Africa, the Atlantic Ocean, the rain forests of South America and the forest region of the United States. Each day, the students participated in themed centers. The pictures below are of our trip to the desert to study the meerkat and other desert animals.
Here we are writing our word wall words and vocabulary in desert sand.
In this center, we are creating African collar necklaces. The picture below shows us sorting and identifying desert animals.

Character Day

On Friday, March 3, Great Falls celebrated literacy by having a "dress as your favorite book character" day.

To top off the day, Great Falls is hosting an Arts in Literacy Night, tonight at 6:00. Students and families are invited to participate in art projects that are related to story books. I hope to see many of you!
